Hello! We’re glad you found us. We’re Ella and Isaac and we live on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia. So you’ll find that some of our posts (especially about local recycling services) are specific to this area, but hopefully a little helpful Australia-wide.
As a running enthusiast, Isaac sees much of the Central Coast on foot, and laments at the scattered plastic rubbish he sees. He’s eager for this to be reduced (and reassigned to a more appropriate place when he’s not traveling too fast). So he is often researching how we can recycle, or appropriately deal with non-recyclable waste, in our area.
With a chronic illness monopolising her time, Ella spends most of life in one place. So reducing household waste where she can and experiencing the joy of growing some things in our little courtyard is where her efforts lie.
We understand that while incredible, “simple life” and/or “zero waste” conversations and exhortations can often be shrouded in ableism. So we want to be clear that what we post is usually us at our hopeful best. Reducing, reusing and recycling waste is an important responsibility for us as humans as we continue to consume. But let’s also be kind to each other, and while aiming high, realise that we don’t all have the same resources in life.
Our hope is that our posts will not be prescriptive. Rather, we hope to share ideas that can help us find ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in our lives, and share resources that we’ve found in our own research for answers on topics such as local recycling.
