Passata Bottles Rule!
Anyone else in love with passata bottles? Once you’ve used the passata in cooking, you’re left with a fabulous vessel with so many uses before it needs to end up in the recycling bin (if ever).
Here are some of my favourite ways to reuse passata bottles:
- Water bottle
- Drink carafe
- Vase for fresh flowers or herbs (such as rosemary)
- Green smoothie bottle
- Fresh homemade juice bottle
- Frozen portions of milk (for anyone like me who drinks milk or milk alternatives but not often enough to finish it fresh before it spoils)
- Frozen soup portions
- Bulk dry foods storage (or overflow storage)
- Bokashi powder (not included in photo because I forgot – it’s not as pretty as the others anyway!)
I feel especially happy reusing these empty passata bottles in the kitchen for drinks or for bulk foods/pantry storage, because there’s no plastic to leech into the food. Hooray!
Any other ways you use a passata bottle?
Love these ideas! Do you make the nut milk and then freeze in portions? I am the same with never using it up before it spoils.
Thanks Shae! I used to make the nut milk, but now I have a mild allergy to nuts, so I don’t make it anymore. Do you make it? My friend at Whole+Simple has a great tactic of making cashew milk. It’s way simpler than almond milk, because you don’t need to strain it. But you do need to shake it up well after defrosting (I guess with all homemade nut milks). Have you ever tried the cashew milk?
You’re spot on – freezing the milk in tiny portions was the only way we could use it up! Plus, then I still got to save effort and make it in the larger quantity without wasting any. Win! 🙂
